This One Goes Out to the Real Girls

I just got home from a fun dinner with some of my girlfriends. I had a blast, but I've got something to say...

There really is something beautiful about when we peel back the layers and show our true colors. For all the energy we, as women, worry about what other people are going to think of us, I find that I tend like people even more when I start to really know them. As I get older, I appreciate the flaws as much as I appreciate the amazing in my friends. In fact, sometimes it's the imperfections that make our "amazing" shine that much brighter. When we're willing to tell our stories, we encourage each other and we affirm that we're not so different after all.

It's pretty incredible when you consider the way that the friendships of women are built. It's almost like a tapestry or a quilt... we bring pieces of our lives, our stories together. We tell and retell. We worry and we pray. We laugh and cry. We hope and we dream. It comes together into a beautiful piece. It may not look like much up close, but when you step back and it'll take your breath away.

This one is going out to all the real girls in my life. I love you, imperfections, amazing and all!
