Fitness Friday: 8ish weeks til Race Day

This is one of those weeks, that I'd rather not post this, but here goes.

Friday - Scheduled: 3 mile run + strength
Worked, date night, didn't run.

Saturday - Scheduled: 7 mile run
Oddly, the first half was crazy hard to do and I was having a strange issue with a tight tendon on the inside and back of my left ankle.  The second half was great!

Sunday - Scheduled: 3 mile run
Handed out {Marathon Medals} and Yoga (totally counting this as Monday's Stretch & Strengthen)  Those medals are heavy!  And we toted them for six hours.  I was sore for days afterwards.
Monday - Scheduled:  Stretch & Strengthen
Didn't make up Sunday's neglected run.
Tuesday - Scheduled:  4 mile run
Got in a 3.47 mile run before I turned into a legitimate popsicle.
Wednesday - Scheduled: 7 x 400 5K Race Pace (Speedwork)
The Lagos Room (as in Nigeria) decided to become {Lake Lagos} (enjoy the irony of that one.)
Thursday - Scheduled:  Rest
Totally on it!  I've got this one down.  Funny thing is that I forgot that I was scheduled to rest and packed my running shoes for work.  But they closed the offices at three and I assume the gym closed too, so no unnecessary run for me.

Happy February 3, Mr. Williams!

14 Things I Love About You
(one for each year since we decided "for good and for keeps")

Fourteen years ago

Fourteen years later

{1} I love that your love for me is unconditional.

{2} You are incredibly smart!

{3} I love your blue eyes.

{4} You are a fantastic daddy.

{5} I love that My Handyman can fix pretty much anything.  You can build just about anything, too.

{6} You say, "Good morning, beautiful/gorgeous/etc" every day and kiss me goodnight every night.
(plus it's even sweeter in person!)

{7} I love that you cook!
.... and you're good at it!

{8} You listen to me.

{9} I love that we dream together

{10} We go OUT and do fun stuff together.  (Even though you are a homebody.)

{11} I love that you and I make a great team!

{12} You are steady.  My consistent rock.

{13} You make me laugh.

{14}  You know me, believe in me, and trust me.

I love you, Jeremy!

For those of you reading along:  February 3rd is the date that Jeremy and I became "official".  If there had been Facebook back then, we would have changed our status.  A lot has happened and a lot has changed in the last fourteen years.  I'm lucky and today is a day for celebrating us!

Wednesday=Fail

Today was far from my best day.

We had our annual Worldwide Employee Teleconference with the CEO this morning. It's broadcast all over the world to all of the locations we do business. I was asked to book several rooms here in Houston for our employees to view the teleconference. No prob. I do that fifty a hundred times a day! But when I communicated the rooms with the meeting organized, I transposed the building numbers. So all the perfectly listed rooms in Building A were actually in Building B and vice versa. Lucky for me that communication went out to 9,000 people. Awesome.

Lunch.

Then a little later I notice a spot in the ceiling above my co-worker's desk. So, I call the Service Center and have a maintenance ticket created and ask for someone to come check it
out right away. I hang up the phone and hear rain. I asked
my co-worker, "Do you hear that? It sounds like rain. Is it raining?". He answers that he doesn't think so. So I get up to investigate. In the room behind me, I walk into this...

And water is literally raining down near the windows! So, I stepped up the urgency of the call over the radio. Within minutes, my floor is alive with activity, trying to stop the crisis. Meanwhile, the spot above my co-worker's desk has worsened and the water is threatening our other co-worker's laptop. So we start unplugging equipment and moving desks. The next two hours were a blur of assessing the situation, managing the scheduled meetings for tomorrow, and (number one) making safety our top priority.

This adjacent room completely flooded and started flooding it's neighboring video conferencing room.

How it looked when I found it
An hour later

The water kept creeping and creeping.

How it looked when I found it.
An hour later

With meetings moved and my team and I moved into a temporary workstation...
My "Command Center"

...which is basically my desk pushed up to a conference table (sigh), there wasn't much more I could do.

I need to arrive early tomorrow to help make sure all the other meetings on the floor are taken care of and re-assess the situation. I'm stressed and worried and can't find sleep yet. That 4:30am alarm will come too
soon!

It's amazing how everything can be fine, business-as-usual one moment and within seconds, you're dealing with a crisis that will impact your work for an indefinite period.

Thursday morning update: I'm frustrated, discouraged, and very nervous about what I'm walking into at work today. If you pray, please do!

Who knew my mailbox could be so inspirational?!?

I'd claim today was a great mail day, but we're not super good about picking up our mail everyday.

And by "not super good"
I
mean
terrible.

So, these two packages could have come at any point in the last several days.  Regardless, look!  There is nothing quite like a care package!   Marcia sent a very sweet one.  Confession:  I cried three times when going through the contents!  There was an awesome thank you note to Jeremy and me for our help with their wedding.  (cry #1)  The little gold bag is a pair of {emergency flats} that I accidently left at the reception {site} (which, by the way, was the dang cutest thing ever!).  She sent some Artichoke Parmesan Dip Mix.  It is apparently to die for and I may or may not want to share!
She sent a book that I simply cannot wait to dive into with Jeremy.  It's called {2:  How will you create something beautiful together?}.  She and Matt wrote a very very very sweet inscription. (cry #2)
As I flipped through the pages, one (not the one below) stopped me dead in my tracks because the quote was so true.  (cry #3)

How lucky am I?  My friend, {Renae}, posted this status on Facebook:
"‎2011 Pay it forward fun... I promise to send something hand made BY ME to the first 5 people who comment on this post and make a similar promise."

I was one of the first five
and
look
at the
cuteness
that
arrived
in MY mailbox!
Renae made me this crafter's apron.  It has about a bajillion pockets and I adore the fabrics she chose for me.  So after my run tonight, I pulled on my jammies and put on the apron.  It inspired me to get started on my {Rosewood Wreath} tonight.... finally!

I made ten roses.  This project may be a lot tedious!  Maybe it will be done for winter before winter turns to spring.
